Strategy: The EP Emerging Markets Small Companies Fund is driven by bottom-up fundamental analysis that aims to identify growing companies trading with attractive valuations relative to anticipated growth in revenue and earnings.
Reasons to Invest:
Geographic Diversification: The Fund is able to invest in smaller economies such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines which have strong economic fundamentals. Generally the region is associated with a reliance on exports, but many Emerging Market countries have strong domestic trends and infrastructure programs that may provide a buffer to slowing exports.
Small Company Focus: Given our small company focus, we seek companies with dominant positions within a specific industry that still meet our market cap mandate; yet are under owned by larger institutional investors whose focus is on larger capitalization companies. Many of these companies have strong growth profiles but are still reasonably valued.
Bottom-up Analysis: Although our investment process is based from the bottom-up, the Fund typically has been overweight in the following sectors: consumer discretionary, consumer staples, industrial and healthcare stocks, given that is where we believe we have found the best value.
